Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC)

Job Description :
DCT is seeking to fill our open position for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer immediately. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will lead the mechanical engineering department and work with our Consulting & Engineering Services Manager in our Dubai office.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will lead the mechanical design team in the design and specification of mechanical systems for data center and computer room projects. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and engineering of computer room air conditioner (CRAC) systems, air distribution systems, HVAC systems, heat rejection systems including condensers, chillers, and cooling towers as well as related piping. Daily tasks will include conducting field visits, site surveys, system assessments, creating of plans, schematics, equipment selection, load calculations, control diagrams, systems narratives, and specifications.

Qualifications :
BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering
P.E. license in good standing, in one or more states, or working toward attaining a P.E. within 6 months
Understanding of cooling system design and construction requirements for data center, computer room, and other mission critical environments
Possess a strong awareness of current and emerging industry standards, vendors, and technologies as they relate to the data center cooling infrastructure industry
Display an in-depth knowledge of computer room cooling systems including, computer room air conditioner (CRAC) systems, air distribution systems, HVAC systems, heat rejection systems including condensers, chillers, and cooling towers as well as related piping
Coordinate with clients, engineers, architects, contractors, and consultants to analyze mechanical requirements & develop designs for both new and retrofit data center and computer room projects
Coordinate with design and engineering resources to develop program requirements and project estimates for both new and retrofit data center & computer room projects
Extensive exposure to project management activities:
** Responsible for multiple concurrent projects through all phases; including, but not limited to, requirements gathering, design development, construction, and commissioning
** Develop operating standards and procedures for new and existing data center mechanical support infrastructure
** Lead regularly scheduled meetings to review status of all data center projects and discuss general and project issues
** Manage new product evaluations and engineering evaluations of existing spaces
Proficiency in AutoCAD (version 2005 or better), MS Word, and MS Excel, as well as design and calculation software
Possess strong record keeping skills as well as a good sense of coordination and follow through
Mastered reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings and design documents
Possess detailed knowledge of specifications
Excellent verbal and writing skills
Have solid knowledge of codes and standards for his/her trade
Have knowledge of ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) construction costs
Able to work in the United States
Responsibilities :
Design and engineer data center projects, prepare reports and specifications, and provide a very high level of technical leadership
Perform calculations, equipment selection, equipment specification, system design, system layout, field investigation, and construction administration
Effectively and personably be able to organize others supporting your efforts
Handle multiple projects at one time while maintaining client satisfaction
Perform all work with minimal supervision and coordinate with a quality assurance/quality control supervisory team
Interface with clients and attend meeting regularly
Apply skills to produce drawings consistent with client requirements and standards
Master company’s drawing organization format and drawing standards
Planning, engineering, and designing CRAC, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
Conduct due diligence reports under supervision of Senior Engineer/Designer and will comply with group and company standards and procedure
Communicate design concepts via sketches and renderings
Conduct field visits and write field observation reports
Write engineering proposals for projects
Estimate construction costs and evaluate feasibility of construction
Able to work overtime to meet project deadlines

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and engineering of power protection and distribution systems including sub-systems such as utility switchgear, emergency generators, ATS, UPS, and PDU as well as related conduit and wire sizing. Daily tasks will include conducting field visits, site surveys, systems assessments, creating of plans, schematics, equipment selection, load calculations, control diagrams, systems narratives, and specifications.
