Duties of the role :
To achieve the outcomes required by this role, you must be able to :
** Lead and coordinate components of policies, practices, procedures communication and support materials relating to biodiversity implementation utilising established project management methodologies to ensure successful and timely delivery of outcomes.
** Develop strong relationships with stakeholders to underpin the success of projects, including within and between Departments, with regions, graziers, conservation groups, mining authorities, industry and community groups and other stakeholders.
** Negotiate innovative and acceptable solutions with internal and external stakeholders to resolve policy, procedure, technical and legislative issues.
** Provide expertise and advice on aspects of biodiversity implementation to internal and external stakeholders.
** Model and promote best practice governance and professionalism in contributing to a strong and professional team committed to team work, development and continuous improvement.

Key attributes :
Within the context of the duties described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who has/is :
** Communication and liaison skills, with a capacity for internal and external stakeholder consultation and negotiation to achieve positive outcomes.
** Project management experience, using good practice project management processes.
** Demonstrated research, analysis and problem solving skills to deliver innovative policy or implementation outcomes.
** Commitment to support continuous improvement processes within a team environment.
** Sound knowledge of or the ability to acquire sound knowledge of public sector legislation, polices and standards relating to environmental protection, nature conservation, natural resource management or land use planning, particularly pertaining to Queensland.

Role :
This position will be responsible for assisting in, and leading, delivery of policy projects that implement the State’s interest in the protection of biodiversity. In particular, the position has a role in implementing elements of the Queensland Government’s new environmental offsets framework. The role involves high levels of communication with other areas of EHP, other Departments, regions and a diverse range of affected industry and community groups. The role also involves working as a close team with other members of the Unit, while leading and maintaining excellent project management for specific aspects of the Unit’s projects.
