Staff Nurse :
The Public Hospitals Authority invites applications from suitably qualified Bahamians for the post of Staff Nurse, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; Intensive Care Unit; Post Anaesthesia Care Unit; Operating Theatre Unit, Princess Margaret Hospital.
Applicants must possess the following qualifications :
** Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing Council of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, And Post basic qualification in a nursing specialized area OR;
** Registered Nurse with a recognized Bachelors degree in Nursing and the Post Basic qualification in the specialized area;
** Must have current Basic Life Support certification.
Staff Nurse, will report to :
Nursing Officer with responsibility for the Area.
Job Summary :
Provide nursing services by rendering professional nursing care to patients within the assigned Unit. Ensuring that patients and their families are provided with the information and support that will enable them to manage and care for the patient during hospitalization and at home, thus promoting best outcomes.
1. Manages Work Load And Resources To Achieve Desired Outcomes By :
** Planning daily clinical schedule in collaboration with Unit Manager, team members and other resource personnel;
** Ensuring that assignments are planned taking into consideration the needs of the patient and family as well as the capabilities and competencies of staff members;
2. Conducts Patient Assessment, Evaluation And Orientation By :
** Ensuring that all relevant pre-admission activities are conducted so as to facilitate timely admission and stabilization processes;
** Participating in comprehensive history taking and physical assessment and ensuring timely and appropriate documentation of all nursing activities as per Unit policies and protocols;
3. Provides A Continuity Of Nursing Care By :
** Complying with hospital policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols; standards and relevant laws in executing all nursing responsibilities, task and activities;
** Developing a nursing care plan in collaboration with the family to address the individualized needs of the patient;
4. Maintains Patient And Administrative Records By :
** Recording patient condition, medications, treatment and any activity taken during patient’s hospital stay and in connection with transfer or discharge;
** Writing and submitting in a timely and efficient manner, reports including patient progress notes, end of shift reports, adverse incidents or accidents reports and other reports on nursing care outcomes and issues.
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
