Capital Investment Analysis and Control Manager (Cadre A)

Reports to: Director, Group Investment Analysis & Accounting Policies

Location: Corporate Support Office, Brussels, Belgium

Overview :
The role of the Capital Investment Analysis and Control (CIAC) Manager will be twofold.
1. Play a pivotal role in the Group’s Capital Expenditures (CapEx) review and approval process: Review and discuss CapEx investment proposals prepared by / with local management and prepare summary review memorandum, including personal recommendation, for Group Senior Leadership’s final approval; maintain and improve existing valuation models and procedures.

2. Define policies and procedures for capital investments to improve the group governance and accountability. The CIAC Manager will work closely with the Group and local Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Real Estate / Expansion and Investment Analysis teams.

Primary Responsibilities :
** Conduct financial evaluation of investment analysis calculations prepared by Operating Companies (OpCos) for internal consistency and accuracy and recommend changes, if needed. Provide recommendations to Delhaize Group Senior Leadership.
** Improve and maintain the Group investment analysis and hurdle rate models and develop policies and procedures to improve governance and accountability with respect to capital investments.
** As part of the post completion analysis, lead the review of the performance of investments and acquisition in cooperation with the OpCos and establish procedures to improve process and make recommendation to senior management for improvements.
** Play a leading role in the development of analytical and valuation competencies at the operating companies through benchmarking, best practices, education, training, valuation models, and review and support of projects and is seen as a technical expert within Delhaize Group.
** Prepare peer analysis and prepare regular and ad hoc reports for Delhaize Group Senior Management.
** Support the Group’s M&A team from a valuation perspective.
** Initiate, manage and lead effort to develop Group-wide policies and procedures for the acquisition, disposition, and accounting of CapEx.
** Operates closely with OpCo and Corporate Investment Analysis, Real Estate / Expansion and FP&A community.

Profile :
** Master degree in (applied) economic sciences or business administration.
** Minimum of 7 years experience in the field of finance (audit, controlling, corporate finance, etc.).
** Big 4 Valuation Services, M&A Support Services or similar industry experience would be a clear plus.
** Practical experience in the field of company valuations / investment analysis / corporate finance preferred, with a very solid theoretical background.
** Very strong data analysis and strong analytical skills and critical thinking abilities are required.
** Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, to model spreadsheets, create reports and prepare sensitivity analyses. VBA skills are an asset.
** Fluent in English required, with Dutch and / or French preferred.
** Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
** Willing and able to travel internationally (10-20% travel).
** Ability to work independently, manage time, and meet deadlines.
